I'm always looking for fun things to do in Daegu & found out that the Yangnyeong Museum of Oriental Medicine had way more to offer than I thought!
The museum is located in downtown Daegu right next to medicine alley. I took my foreign exchange students to check it out! We loved that they had a ton of cute photo ops outside next to pretty murals & an oriental acupressure sidewalk surrounding a beautiful fountain!
Decided to came back to experience the inside of the museum. I was nervous because of the language barrier, so I made it a girls trip! They do have parking & you get 1 hour FREE if you get your pass stamped inside.
It opens at 9am, but the hands-on experience opens at 10am. They have a store with everything Ginseng & FREE tea that helps relieve fatigue.
You can come and check your vitals, which seems to be common in Korea. We see these stations everywhere, especially near the subways. Health is a big priority here & I love it.
You can even dress up in traditional Hanboks & take pictures in a Korean setting. We didn't have time but definitely still had to enjoy the scenery.
Then came my favorite part... the hands-on experience featuring oriental medicine!
The ingredients for lip balm including bees wax.
I picked the square rose soap mold.
Once it was a smooth mixture, we were able to pour it into the mold.
I had way too much fun mixing it while it heated up!!

On the 3rd floor is just a museum and on the 2nd floor it is more interactive.
Loved learning about the different teas and what they were used for here in Korea.
We need to find this tea - Gyeongokko - which maintains your youth!
This is the tea that they give you for FREE!

The only thing not available for us to do that day was making the oriental natural air freshener. Everything we did was under 20,000 won - such an awesome deal!! You have to give them time to prepare the room for your activities. If you have a large group, definitely make reservations.
The molds for soaps. There were so many options!
The different ingredients for soap. Anything from anti-wrinkle to skin brightening formulas.
The ingredients for lip balm including bees wax.
I picked anti-wrinkle & anti-aging soap, of course!
I picked the square rose soap mold.
She had an extremely hot mixture & poured it in our bowl to immediately start mixing.
Then we added two scents - lavender & grapefruit.
Once it was a smooth mixture, we were able to pour it into the mold.
We did it!! Now the waiting begins.
While you wait, we were able to start the next activity. We are now ready to make medicinal facial spray.
Something I thought was interesting is that we always started by personally sanitizing our containers.
I think we all wanted to take home the rose water. Loved that this was our main ingredient.
We made sure to weigh everything in grams for each ingredient.
I was horrible at pouring the ingredients and getting the perfect amount. :)
Once you get all your ingredients in, you write your name on the sticker and place it on your bowl for the next step.
Time to boil and wait!
I had way too much fun mixing it while it heated up!!
Now it was time to make Lip Balm! Look at all the fabulous ingredients.
These were the Bees Wax pellets.
We weighed out 2 grams for the balm.
Then we kept adding the medicinal ingredients to the Lip Balm.
Now that everything is mixed, we are ready to heat it up again!
We mix it until everything is dissolved, while it's heating up.
Then you pour it into the cute little container and wait 24 hours before use!
So much fun!!
Now the mist was cooled down and ready to be poured as well.
Oh my... it smelled so good!!
We have our beautiful bottles of rose water medicinal facial spray!!
Feels so good on our face!
Now our molds are also ready to be taken out as well.
You literally just pop them out and they are ready to be used!
Loved how wonderful my soap turned out!
Don't you think these make for perfect presents... right from the heart? :)
All of our awesome DIY crafts we made in less than an hour!
She was the coolest teacher ever!
Last but not least - foot bath time!
So many great benefits to the foot bath including:
* Promoting blood circulation
* Recover from cold & fatigue
* Relieves headaches & insomnia
The bath was so nice & hot!
Needless to say, it was the perfect way to end girls day! It was so relaxing. Make sure to be quiet in here as we were not and definitely got in trouble! :)
So if you want something fun to do that is inexpensive, cultural, and relaxing then definitely come to the Oriental Medicine Museum. It was an absolute blast and I hope you enjoy it too!!
